(This History was found in St. Mark’s Archive Room during a recent organization project. Along with the History was a letter written by Floyd Seitz):
“My parents, Alice and Lee Roy Seitz, moved to Charlotte in 1943 and transferred their membership from St. James Lutheran Church in Newton, NC, to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church on North Tryon Street. I was one year old and my sister, Virginia, was seven years old. My brother, Gene, was born two years later. Virginia and I were both confirmed at St Mark’s. We were in the youth choirs and participants in Luther League. I was also an acolyte.
When Virginia attended St Mark’s Vacation Bible School in 1949, at the age of thirteen, she and her Intermediates Class compiled a document titled “THIS IS OUR CHURCH”. At that time, Vacation Bible school lasted two weeks. She doesn’t remember why the document has her name on the cover. The document is being donated St Mark’s.”
